The Forest Resources Association will host a week-long Tour of forest operations in Chile, focusing on fiber supply systems and harvesting operations, and including plantation management, research directions, and the industry’s political and economic operating environment, November 4-12, 2006. This intensive field-tour will provide foresters, loggers, and others interested in sustainable forest management with a detailed exposure to the operational and systemic factors, as well as basic resource characteristics, that mark the Chilean industry’s value chain.
Participation in the Tour group of 37 is open to anyone with a legitimate interest in forest operations, although a special reduced price is available to members of FRA, the Association of Consulting Foresters, or the Canadian Woodlands Forum. The registration fee of $3,495 ($4,000 for non-members) includes roundtrip airfare to and from Chile (in and out of Miami, Florida), lodging for all six nights, all meals, and internal transportation. Participants will be responsible for obtaining their own passports. (Special visas and inoculations are not required for entry as tourists into Chile.)
